Team Purpose
This team provides analytical support across the university through a shared services model. While each analyst is aligned with a specific functional area (e.g., Parking and Transit, Facilities, HR), they are centrally managed to ensure consistency, collaboration, and strategic alignment.
Data Visualizations
Purpose: To communicate insights clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
Examples:
- Interactive dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) showing budget performance, staffing trends, or space utilization.
- Custom charts and graphs for presentations.
- Heatmaps and geospatial visualizations for facilities and operations planning.
Forecasting and Predictive Analytics
Purpose: To support strategic planning and proactive decision-making.
Examples:
- Multi-year forecasts using historical trends and scenario modeling.
- Predictive models for parking, staffing needs, or utility consumption.
- What-if analyses to evaluate the impact of parking policy or other operational changes.
Stakeholder Engagement and Support
Purpose: To ensure data solutions meet the needs of each unit.
Examples:
- Regular check-ins with assigned units to understand evolving needs.
- Training and documentation to empower users to explore data independently.
- Translating complex data into actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
Ad Hoc Analysis and Reporting
Purpose: To respond to emerging questions and support data-driven decisions.
Examples:
- Cost-benefit analyses for new initiatives.
- Benchmarking reports comparing internal metrics to peer institutions.
- Custom reports from the Data Lake for audits, compliance, or leadership meetings.
Office Director
Crystal Johnson is the Senior Director of Shared Services Data Analytics at the University of Arkansas, where she leads a team of data scientists and analysts delivering actionable data-driven insights. Crystal joined the university in late 2024, bringing more than 20 years of experience in data strategy, HR analytics, and financial planning at leading organizations like Walmart and Lamb Weston. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a minor in Computer Science from Southwest Oklahoma State University.
Transformation Management Office
Anthony Beger is the data analyst lead supporting the Transformation Management Office (TMO) at the University of Arkansas. In this role, he serves as the enterprise owner of performance analytics for the University of Arkansas’s 150 Forward Strategic Plan. His responsibilities include developing and maintaining dashboards, connecting and modeling data from multiple sources, establishing reporting processes, and helping create data standards that support a more unified approach to analytics. Anthony joined the University of Arkansas in a full-time capacity in 2025. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Data Science with a concentration in Business Data Analytics and a Master of Science in Operations Analytics, both from the University of Arkansas.
Provost's Office
Grant Jackson is a Data Analyst on the Shared Services Analytics team at the University of Arkansas, where he develops dashboards and reporting tools focused on student success, employment, and key financial measures in support of the Office of the Provost. He partners with stakeholders across campus to define key performance indicators and strengthen reporting workflows. Grant holds a BSBA in Financial Management/Investments and an M.S. in Economic Analytics, both from the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas.
Human Resources
Oluwaseyi Otunlape is a Descriptive Business Intelligence Analyst on the Shared Services Data Analytics Team specializing in data analytics, reporting, and business systems insights. He holds a Master's degree in Information Systems from the University of Arkansas and Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Olabisi Onabanjo University.
Facilities Management
Stephen Ritterbush is the Senior Business Intelligence Analyst for the Department of Strategic Data and Process Innovation. In this role, he leads full-stack business intelligence development, designs automated data pipelines, and architects advanced semantic data models to support strategic institutional objectives. Ritterbush brings over 14 years of diverse data and systems experience at the University of Arkansas, having previously served as the founding member of the Business Intelligence unit within University IT Services and as the Director of Information Systems for the Honors College. Throughout his tenure, he has spearheaded critical cross-functional initiatives, including leading enterprise data warehouse conversion efforts ahead of the university's transition to Workday. Additionally, he has spent more than a decade providing pro bono strategic and technical consulting to local startups, non-profits, and small businesses. Ritterbush holds both a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) and a Master of Information Systems (M.I.S.), along with a graduate certificate in Project Management from the University of Arkansas.
